President Ferdinand E Marcos Leadership


President Ferdinand E Marcos became a leader for 14 years from 1972 to 1986. He leads the Philippines under the dictatorial type of government than nobody in the country is higher than he is. He controls the government the way he wanted. Nobody can disapprove or disobeyed him.


Under his leadership, he build lots of infrastructure lice PICC, heart center, lung center and the 1st ever biggest airport in south east Asia which is the manila international Airport.The San Juanico Bridge the connects the provinces of Leyte and Samar. The long and free highway of Luzon called to be the Marcos Highway. He connect all transportation links from Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Bulacan, Manila up to Bicol and some other Vizayas areas thru railways transportation.


He also implemented the Land reform programs for the poor tenants. The Marcos land reform program succeeded in breaking down many of the large haciendas in Central Luzon and distributed this to underprivileged tenants. all agricultural households had received a certificate of land transfer, indicating that the land they were cultivating had been registered as a land transfer holding.


Until, September 21, 1972, martial law was declared. He signed the proclamation # 1081 placing the entire Philippines under martial law.


These were the changes during the martial law era;

  1. a new constitution
  2. death of democracy
  3. reorganization of government
  4. control by the marcos family and cronies
  5. stronger military power


All Marcos opponents and protesters against the government were arrested and put into detention. Among those jailed were Senator Benigno Aquino Jr., Jose Diokno, Ramon Mitra, Teofisto Guingona and Jose Mari Velez.


  • He bans all newspaper, radios, and television. All Medias were blackouts.
  • The government took over the airlines, railways, and all telecommunication company.
  • Totally no freedom
